Collection: Giorgio Della Beffa

Giorgio Della Beffa belonged to the generation of Italian designers who, during the plastics boom of the 1970s, embraced plastic as a serious design material. He worked with the manufacturer Euroway in Turin, at a time when Italian plastic design was leading the world.

His best-known design is the Ring-a-Date calendar: a perpetual calendar in ABS with three rings that you move by hand to show the day, the date and the month. No batteries, no paper, no expiry date. Its playful, hands-on mechanism and minimalist, futuristic form earned it lasting recognition and a place in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Decades later, Della Beffa's grandchildren revived the design. They reissued the calendar with the original design, in new colours, staying true to their grandfather's vision.
