Lella & Massimo Vignelli
Lella and Massimo Vignelli were an Italian husband-and-wife design duo who spent over five decades shaping graphic, industrial, and furniture design across Europe and the US. After training as architects in Milan and marrying in 1957, they founded their own studio and later Unimark International and Vignelli Associates, working under the belief that a designer should be able to shape everything “from the spoon to the city.” Their output ranged from the New York City subway map to Heller's stacking melamine dinnerware, earning them the Compasso d'Oro and a permanent place in museums including MoMA and the Met.
